Wey & Arun Canal Trust (WACT) Information Point\, east side of A281 Horsh am Road\, Shalford GU4 8EQ
\n \nBetween 1816 & 1872 the Wey & Arun Junction Canal formed the final link in a chain of inland waterways connecting London to the English Channel\; this walk introduces participants to th e northernmost section of the former canal and the railways (defunct or still operating) which took its trade.
\n \nA circular walk\, mostly se gregated from motor traffic\, beginning and ending at WACT’s Information Centre. The route includes part of the alignment of the former Guildford-Hors ham railway line (Wey-South and Downs Link paths)< /p>\n \n
As the route is largely on footpath s\, towpath and footpath/cycleway which can be mud dy\, walking boots or stout walking shoes are esse ntial. The route includes a handful of short ascen ts and descents including a descent of approx.30 e arthen steps and an ascent of 14 steps.

Cross Horsham Road on foot via central r efuge to Wey-South Path\, Information Centre is on right via ramped boardwalk. Bus service 53 Guildf ord- Ewhurst along Horsham Road\, Shalford\, is ap proximately hourly on Sundays. Shalford rail stati on is 1km north via Horsham Road.
