Adam Rayner

Adam joined us as our first apprentice in 2021 and we were delighted when he graduated with a Distinction Certificate at the end of 2022.  He then joined the Trust full time and has been an invaluable member of the team using his wide range of practical skills on the restoration and maintenance of the canal.  He has been a great support to the volunteer teams and volunteer groups where his energy and enthusiasm have been greatly appreciated.

We will miss him and wish him well in the next stage in his career.

Working Party News

The Trust is fortunate in benefitting from the the services of several visiting workgroups.  Recently we have welcomed:

KESCRG The Kent & East Sussex Restoration Group

LWRG The London Waterway Recovery Group

NWPG The Newbury Working Party Group

WRG Waterway Recovery Group Forestry Team

They have provided invaluable assistance for the ground works and chambers for the new pumps and dealing with the dead ash trees between Brewhurst Bridge and Baldwin's Knob Lock.

As you can see, our Truxor team has been kept busy cutting reeds.

Winter Wildlife

John Reynolds took this atmospheric photo of a Cormorant he has seen a couple of times above Baldwin's Knob lock in the middle of November.  He has also seen Mallards, Moorhens and Kingfishers  -  my favourite bird.

I think this photo captures the essence of the Green Corridor

What have you seen and photographed recently?  Send us a photo for next month's Newsletter.
