The Christmas countdown has begun and bookings are now being taken for our traditional Santa cruises.

After a busy summer season of boat trips demand is expected to be high as passenger numbers are limited to 14 instead of 48 to allow for 2 metre social distancing onboard our spacious electric boat Wiggonholt.

Passengers can cruise in confidence knowing our trips are Covid safe and meet Visit Britain’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ standards.

The 40-minute cruises will run every Wednesday and Sunday from December 9th to 23rd and include all the seasonal favourites. There will be Santa in his special workahop preparing for Christmas, decorations, gifts for the children and festive food and drink for all.

Reflecting on what has been a challenging year for the Trust and other small charities, chairman Sally Schupke said: “Our volunteer boat crew and Canal Centre staff always look forward to the Christmas season and it is great to be able to offer our Santa trips again this year and bring enjoyment to families in uncertain times.

“The busy towpaths and footpaths over the past months show how important the green corridor we are creating is to people, and support for our Santa trips will allow us to continue to restore and maintain the canal that so many enjoy.”
