Charities have been hit hard this year with fundraising events cancelled due to the pandemic, and the Wey & Arun Canal Trust is no different. However, there are some easy ways to lend your support that could give you a cash boost too.

The WACT Numbers Game is a monthly prize draw which raises a significant amount to support restoration projects. The first prize is £100, the second £30 and the third £10. Members contribute £3 a month by standing order for each number they hold.

To take part in the game, contact the game's administrator, Timothy Lewis, at support@weyandarun.co.uk or write to the WACT Surrey Office – Bridge End, Somerswey, Shalford, Guildford, Surrey GU4 8EQ

In October, the first prize of £100 went to Hugh Smith from Stratford with number 137; second prize of £30 went to Michael Hobbs from Godalming with number 54; and third prize of £10 went to Ronald Parker from Haywards Heath with number 110.

The Trust also participates in the Horsham District Community Lottery, a weekly lottery that raises money for good causes in the Horsham District. Tickets for the lottery cost just £1 per week, and from every ticket sold 60p will go to a good cause. Select the Wey & Arun Canal Trust as your good cause and we’ll receive 50p of the 60p (the remaining 10p will be distributed to other good causes).

Each ticket has a one in 50 chance of winning a prize, with a top prize of £25,000. Draws take place every Saturday night. Go to www.horshamdistrictcommunitylottery.co.uk/, select the Buy Tickets tab and search for the Wey & Arun Canal Trust from the list of those taking part. Lottery Gift Vouchers are also available, starting at just £5, and make great Christmas presents.  The Wey & Arun Canal Trust will receive 50% of the proceeds from each ticket that the Gift Voucher is then redeemed against.
