Guided walk led by the Wey & Arun Canal Trust. Approximately 1.75 miles.
Date: 15th September 2024 - Meet 2:15pm for 2:30pm start
Between 1816 & 1872 the Wey & Arun Junction Canal formed the final link in a chain of inland waterways connecting London to the English Channel at Littlehampton; this walk introduces participants to a stretch of canal at Birtley, south of Bramley, which is being restored as a new amenity for visitors.
A circular walk, fully segregated from motor traffic, beginning and ending at Birtley Courtyard. The route includes part of the alignment of the former Guildford-Horsham railway line (Downs Link Path) and canal towpath recently upgraded by the Wey & Arun Canal Trust (WACT). This latter section is not a right-of-way, but WACT offers it as a permissive path
Any specific walk / conditions issues
As the route is largely on bridleway, towpath & cycleway, walking boots or stout walking shoes are advised
