A member of the Wey and Arun Canal Trust will lead you on this circular walk, beginning and ending at Birtley Courtyard. The route includes part of the alignment of the former Guildford-Horsham railway line (Downs Link Path) and canal towpath recently upgraded by the Wey and Arun Canal Trust (WACT).

Guided walk led by the Wey & Arun Canal Trust. Approximately 1.75 miles.

Date: 14th September 2024 - Meet 2:15pm for 2:30pm start

Between 1816 & 1872 the Wey & Arun Junction Canal formed the final link in a chain of inland waterways connecting London to the English Channel at Littlehampton; this walk introduces participants to a stretch of canal at Birtley, south of Bramley, which is being restored as a new amenity for visitors.

A circular walk, fully segregated from motor traffic, beginning and ending at Birtley Courtyard. The route includes part of the alignment of the former Guildford-Horsham railway line (Downs Link path) and canal towpath reinstated by the Wey & Arun Canal Trust (WACT) including two Dutch-style lifting bridges. This latter section is not a right-of-way, but WACT offers it as a permissive path.
