Local artist Graham Sharp is lending his support to the Wey & Arun Canal Trust by donating a percentage of the sale of his artwork to the Trust.
Graham, who is based in Billingshurst, has been inspired by the beauty of the canal and has created a selection of oil paintings depicting scenes from around the Loxwood area. The paintings are currently being exhibited at The Onslow Arms pub in Loxwood.
Says Graham: “I’ve been painting for more than 40 years. Before I retired a few years ago, I enjoyed a career in engineering - I think that is what enables me to appreciate the amazing civil engineering works the Wey & Arun Canal Trust carries out. I remember thinking some years ago, ‘I can’t see a voluntary organisation building an aqueduct - shows how little I knew!”
Graham is a member of Chichester Art Society and the Dorking Group of Artists, together with the Surrey Hills Plein Air Group. As well as exhibiting at local exhibitions, his work is in private collections in the UK and Scandinavia.
Paintings are typically priced at about £150 and are professionally framed and ready to hang in contemporary white wooden frames measuring 14in x14in.
