Trust member Rodney Morrison is embarking on an epic bike ride to raise funds for the Harsfold Bridge appeal.
The keen off-road cyclist is to ride the full length of the Downs Link path from Guildford to Shoreham and back in one go later this month, a total of 75 miles and some nine hours in the saddle.
Rodney described the challenging ride as "rather mad". He added: "I used to run half marathons and enjoy a challenge, and am building up to this in the same thorough way I did for running. That said, 75 miles on some quite rough tracks is a bit daunting."
His training has included completing the Tarka Trail in Devon last month, some 62 miles.
The 65-year-old joined the Trust after attending a taster day in January, looking to do something worthwhile in his spare time. He has since become a regular of the EWG working party. "The work has been quite tough but the other guys are brilliant work mates and we have a lot of fun in the process," Rodney said. "I am amazed at the enthusiasm of so many volunteers working towards the same end."
