Fancy a holiday with a difference? The Waterway Recovery Group is running three Canal Camps across July, focusing on restoration of the Wey & Arun Canal.

These week-long camps are open to all and no prior experience is necessary. They cost £70 including three meals a day (plus plenty of tea and cake), with basic accommodation provided, usually in a village hall.

This year’s Wey & Arun Canal camps aim to concentrate on the Birtley section, just south of Bramley, and run from 6th-13th July, 13th-20th July, and 20-27th July.

All transfers to and from the accommodation to the work site are included but volunteers will need to make their own way to the Canal Camp. If travelling by public transport, volunteers can be collected from the nearest railway station.

The working breaks are among 25 Waterway Recovery Group Canal Camps held at 11 sites around England and Wales. It also offers three Family Camps for children aged 6-14, and several weekend camps.
